Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide is used for:

Treating heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach.

Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide is an H2 (histamine) blocker and antacid combination. It works by neutralizing stomach acid and reducing stomach acid production.

Do NOT use Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide if:

  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide or other acid reducers (H2 blockers)
  • you have trouble swallowing or increased calcium levels in the blood

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide :

Some medical conditions may interact with Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
  • if you have a history of kidney or liver disease or you have appendicitis, colon or intestinal blockage, parathyroid hormone (PTH) deficiency, or sarcoidosis

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide . Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

  • Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because the risk of their side effects may be increased by Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide
  • Azole antifungals (eg, ketoconazole), bisphosphonates (eg, alendronate), cation exchange resins (eg, sodium polystyrene sulfonate), cephalosporines (eg, cephalexin), mycophenolate, penicillamine, quinolone antibiotics (eg, ciprofloxacin), or tetracyclines (eg, doxycycline) because their effectiveness may be decreased by Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide

How to use Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide :

Use Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

  • Take Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide by mouth with or without food.
  • To relieve symptoms of heartburn, chew 1 tablet. Chew thoroughly before swallowing.
  • To prevent symptoms, chew 1 tablet with a glass of water at any time from 15 to 60 minutes before eating food or drinking beverages that cause heartburn.
  • Do not use more than 2 chewable tablets in a 24-hour period unless directed by your health care provider.
  • If you miss taking a dose of Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide for 1 or more days, there is no cause for concern. If your doctor recommended that you take it, try to remember your dose every day.

Important safety information:

  • Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide may cause dizziness. This effect may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
  • If pain continues or you need to take this product for more than 14 days for heartburn symptoms, stop use and contact your doctor.
  • You may need to make significant diet and lifestyle changes to help treat and prevent ulcers and other digestive problems, including stress-reduction programs, exercise, and diet changes.
  • Lab tests, including liver function, kidney function, and complete blood count, may be performed while you use Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide . These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
  • Use Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
  • Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide should be used with extreme caution in CHILDREN younger than 12 years old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
  • PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide while you are pregnant. Famotidine/Calcium Carbonate/Magnesium Hydroxide is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking his medicine.
