Scholl seal and heal verruca removal gel contains salicylic acid as the main active ingredient. This is a type of medicine known as a keratolytic.
Salicylic acid works by breaking down keratin, a protein which forms part of the skin structure. This results in the shedding of the skin cells from the affected area.
In the treatment of verrucas, warts, calluses and corns the effect of salicylic acid is to break down and remove the affected skin over a period of time. If successful, the new skin that grows underneath will be healthy.
This preparation also contains camphor, which gives mild pain relief.
The gel should be applied directly to the wart, verruca, callus or corn. The gel dries forming a water resistant barrier over the area, so that you dont need to cover it with a plaster. The gel should be applied twice a day to the affected area, until the wart, verruca, callus or corn has been removed. This may take up to 12 weeks. You shouldnt use the product for longer than 12 weeks without consulting a doctor.
