Conotrane cream contains two active ingredients dimeticone and benzalkonium chloride.
Dimeticone is a silicone fluid, which is a water repellant. When applied to the skin it creates a barrier between the skin and water, or any other water soluble skin irritants.
Benzalkonium chloride is an antiseptic that is effective against a wide range of bacteria and yeast (fungal) infections, that are often present with nappy rash.
This cream forms a thin layer over the skin which protects and promotes healing of the skin.
Conotrane cream can be used for the treatment of nappy rash and to protect the skin from moisture, irritants and chafing. It is used for elderly people who have bedsores or have incontinence and are likely to get a urinary rash.
